Frank Land gave a talk to the Computer Conservation Society at the Early Applications seminar at the Science Museum on 24 February 2005. In it he described an order processing and stock control application implemented at the Ford Motor Company's spare parts depot at Aveley in the late 1950s. A major feature was the effective combination of computer and punched card technology, which was the key to success.
The talk was first published in 'Resurrection' - the Bulletin of the Computer Conservation Society (Issue No. 36, Autumn 2005) and has now been published as a paper by the BCS Computer Journal. (July 2006)
